Hello, Gorgeous!
I spent much of yesterday schlepping fun items back and forth (and then back again) for a charity auction. It was fun and exhausting, and there’s no way I could have done it without my Hulken rolling totes in a variety of sizes. Know me irl? Well, then you’ve already heard me rave about Hulkens or seen my collection.
In case you’re not yet indoctrinated into the Hulken fan club, here’s what you should know.
Hulken rolling totes will change your life
It seems hard to understand that a glorified shopping bag could inspire this level of adulation, but Hulken bags are that amazing.
Are they gorgeous? No. While they do come in a variety of colors, Hulkens are at their core, slick looking shopping bags with wheels and multiple handles.
Are they cheap? Also, no. But I’ve found that Hulkens are a sound investment if you’re trying to find a better way of not carrying around everything at all times.
I had my eye on a Hulken before splurging on a medium. That one is perfect for grocery shopping, or even dropping packages off at Staples. I loved it so much that I treated both my sister and mom to one. Then I bought the large for myself (it’s actually quite huge). The large is big enough to cram in your duvet on laundry day, or several loads of laundry. I use the large when toting around gifts for our charity events as well. And about a month ago I treated myself to a small. The small is a bit bigger than I’d like, but I use it for taking my laptop with me when I’m onsite with clients.
While they come in cool colors- silver, pink gold, pink, purple, red, and a few more, I stuck with black and navy for my Hulkens. I live in New York and travel a fair bit and wanted my bag to blend into the background, not attract the interest of potentially shady types.
Here’s who can use a Hulken:
If you live in the city and are constantly balancing bags on your arms while walking to the subway or your apartment.
If you spend a lot of time at Costco or big box shopping and need to find a way to schlep home those 86 cans of chickpeas.
If you spend time at trade shows and want to manage all of your signage and swag.
If you don’t want to lug around a laptop visibly.
If you’re tired of your arms aching at all times from everything you’re carrying around.
If you want to discreetly take your unmentionables to the laundry room.
Is Hulken really that amazing?
Yes. There’s a reason people think I work for the company, I rave about Hulkens all the time! There is something about the design of the Hulkens that allow you to keep putting in heavy items without feeling the strain. After a while if you really load your Hulken or walk for a while, you’ll notice the weight, but less so than even the most perfectly designed rolling luggage.
Hulken also keeps improving the products, so that now they come with a cover that zips from both ends so you can keep your stuff private.
Which size do I need?
Well, that’s up to you. Hulken created a size guide to help you choose. As for me, I have all three sizes. Not only that, I whooped when the small size came back in stock and scooped one up.
What I don’t love
As much as I adore my Hulkens, there are a few things that irk me.
The wheels can sometimes be wonky. Maybe it’s the city sidewalks, but sometimes the wheels can catch and my bag almost tips over.
About that. It can be hard to figure out how to balance things while you’re shopping, so you could potentially stack things in a way that throws your entire bag off balance.
The return policy. I’m going to end up keeping my small Hulken, but almost returned it because as mentioned above, the balance seemed a bit off. I contacted the company and was told I had to fold the Hulken in the exact shape it was shipped in. Well, that’s easier said that done. While these bags can be folded, it’s a bit tricky to get them as flat as when they ship.
In all, there are few brands I love as much as Hulken. I secretly hope they come out with a sleek laptop version so I can splurge on one more. What can I say? I don’t have a car. Hulkens are my substitute car trunk!
You can find Hulkens on Amazon. Medium is $114, Small is $109. If you’re thinking of buying some as holiday gifts, you can save 15% when buying three if you order on the Hulken website.
Random. You can’t imagine how many people stop to ask me about my various Hulkens or how many conversations I’ve had with fellow Hulken devotee. Maybe we’re not the type to schlep around Birken bags, but our shared Hulken obsession definitely create a sisters who schlep bond!
Are you a fan of Hulkens or is this the first time you’re hearing about them? Let’s discuss in the comments.
