A Burst of Color and Flavor
The weekend roundup includes blush that flatters every skin tone or type, tinted lip serum, ideas for your coffee break, and an app to help you plan your next big bash
Hello, Gorgeous!
It’s been a roller coaster of a week, and now the weekend beckons and I’m ready for it! Before I head out, here are some fun ideas to make you blush, make you salivate, or keep you feeling kissable long after Valentine’s Day.
Blush that will make everyone jelly
Did you ever try a product just to be a good sport? That’s what initially happened with me and Fwee’s Lip & Cheek Glowy Jelly Pot. I’d already tried their Lip & Cheek Blurry Pudding Pot and wasn’t loving it. But, hey. I’m ever the optimist and decided to not only try the Lip & Cheek Glowy Jelly Pot. I’m so glad that I did. While I usually avoid putting anything extra sticky on my face, the Fwee Glowy Jelly Pot adds more of a sheen than a shine. And while I also constantly tell people not to double up and use a product on more than one part of your face, I’m slightly in love with the way the Glowy Jelly Pot works as a lip gloss as well. I like the baby pink shades since they seem a bit bold in the pot, but add just a flush when applied to your cheeks. They also have a texture called Sugar Powder if you prefer a bit of a pearlized effect. And if you need your beauty on the go, every Glowy Jelly Pot comes with a mini keyring to fill with product.
Two more things to keep in mind. If you don’t love touching your product or applying with your fingers, you can use their Fingerlike Silicone Lip Brush Slim ($8, Amazon). Also, product goes on without catching if you warm it slightly first. You can also layer for more of a pop of color. The most exciting thing for me was the fact that I tested the product on people of very varied ages and it was flattering on every face and didn’t catch in fine lines. ($16, Amazon).
Next up, I’m crushing on the two newest blush launches from Nudestix. Nudies in Bubba (bubble gum pink matte) and Say I Dew (sheer pink glow/shimmer). It can be hard to find the right blush color after a draining winter. These cream to sheer formulas offer a bit of color without too much of a commitment. There’s also a brush on the other side of the tube, so you can blend in after applying. While I don’t love this one for lips, it’s gorgeous for an early spring burst of color ($35, nudestix.com).
I may earn a small commission from sales made using the links in this post. (Probably not, since I’m kinda lazy about chasing down affiliate programs).
Laneige Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum
I feel like we need a moment of silence to fully take in the monumental realization that cult K-Beauty brand Laneige just launched their first color line. Also, it’s inspired by donuts! While I was never a big fan of the whole Glazed Donuts skincare/beauty craze, I think that Laneige got it right with these new products.
Skin loving ingredients including polypeptide (to plump), argan ceramides (to nourish), and one of skincare’s best kept secrets, polyglutamic acid (PGA to attract and retain moisture). Laneige Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serums come in four colors, Cinnamon Sugar (a mauve pink and my favorite color in the collection), Chocolate Brown (a warm brown), Peach Glaze (a peachy coral that will also look great on top of your other lip products), and Sugar Glaze (a nude beige that looks fantastic on top of lip liner). In all, I’m seriously swooning over this launch and have to stop myself from applying more layers to see how the color builds. ($22, Sephora).
Snackables
As the weekend looms large, I keep thinking of indulging in small treats as opposed to giant indulgences.
Cafe Grumpy recently came out with individual packets of their signature batch roasted coffees. I feel like we should all start carrying around packets of Heartbreaker Blend at all times for some yum + fun on the go ($18, cafegrumpy.com).
Nuts.com torments me with their creative new releases. I can’t quit their Strawberry Dusted Dark Chocolate Covered Hazelnuts which have a dusting of real strawberry powder and are made with 70% artisanal dark chocolate. It’s definitely time for me to order another bag. ($6.99 for a 4oz bag on Nuts.com).
And finally, planning an upcoming dinner party or girls’ night in? While I don’t tend to feature too many apps, here’s one you might love.
Last night I met one of the co-founders of Cookbash, when he was giving a presentation about an unrelated issue. His elevator pitch stuck with me. An app that connects you with chefs and helps you plan every element of your upcoming meal/hosting experience? Yes, please! Download the app for Android or iPhone. Ooh. I just noticed their online shop with cookware, accessories and cookbooks.
Also, here is one of my all time favorite songs. How was this never a huge hit?
So are you planning on indulging in any treats over the weekend? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
