Hello, Gorgeous!
It’s a balmy 20°F outside here in Brooklyn (compared to 15°F yesterday). I’ve given up all pretense of even pretending to look cute and instead am layering up and bundling up. And I’m topping it all off with a cashmere ball cap.
My favorite extreme weather hat
I love wearing hats and have many for all seasons. That said, when it’s this cold out, it’s hard to find a hat that looks cute and keeps you warm. Orvis Cashmere Ball Cap does both.
Maybe it sounds cheap to admit, but I initially balked at shelling out $98 for a plain grey baseball cap. I then added another $8 to have my initials embroidered on it. Why? I have no idea. In any event, in the past two years I have this cap, it’s become my go-to in extra cold weather.
Here’s what I love about my Orvis Cashmere Ball Cap :
It’s soft. You know how cashmere can go either way? This cap is incredibly soft, so there’s no itchiness mid-day.
It’s flattering. Maybe it’s the slightly longer brim, but man, is this cap flattering. I’d go so far as to say it’s the most flattering baseball cap I own (and there are many).
It’s durable. I wear this one a lot, and it looks as good now as it did the first time I wore it.
It’s made with a conscience. The brim is made from 100% traceable recycled fishing nets.
It’s lined with flannel. Extra toasty!
It’s reinforced. The inside of the cap has six reinforced sections underneath the seams, so it holds its shape beautifully.
The option to embroider your initials. I’m not into the whole preppy look of initials on everything, but I added mine on a whim. People always comment on it, which amuses me to no end.
What I don’t love:
It only comes in two colors - navy or charcoal. I have the grey, I’ll probably splurge on the navy one.
It is really really warm. If you’re planning on wearing this when braving the cold, this is the perfect cap for you. If however you’d like to wear it indoors, you should probably bring a back up with you since this becomes really uncomfortably hot indoors.
You can find this cute toasty cap for $98, on orvis.com
So, what’s your cold weather go-to? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
