Head to Toe TLC
The weekend roundup includes a belly rub for stretch marks, chic earplugs, and a way to revive your leather goods
Hello, Gorgeous!
Is anyone else really excited for the weekend? I’ve been forced to be highly social for the past week and I’m looking forward to climbing under the covers as soon as possible. I’ll be reading advance copies of a book delightfully titled Matchmaking for Psychopaths, and also my decades-long woman crush Lili Taylor’s new book on birds aptly titled Turning to Birds (stay tuned to see if she agrees to an interview for an upcoming newsletter!).
For this weekend roundup, I’ll be featuring cool products that help you pamper yourself or your belongings.
A Self-Care box curated by therapists
Sometimes I’m just too tired to choose. And while there are so many beauty boxes out there, I really love the idea of Therabox where each box is curated by therapists. The price is affordable ($39.99 per box if you sign up on a monthly basis). The value is impressive, since you’ll receive eight full size products from top wellness brands. There are also cute surprises, like the cork flower-shaped coasters and a daisy tote in this month’s box.
Serum for your body
Body Firm is a great brand that has a line of products created to banish crepiness. That said, my fave product in the line (right now) is Brighten & Boost Ultra-C Body Serum which is a delightful blend of 13 vitamins and superfoods that make my sad winter skin look and feel smooth and soft. ($72, thebodyfirm.com).
Care for your boots or bags
If your leather looks a bit winter weary as well, you should check out Leather Honey (around since the ‘60s!) which restores and protects everything from your phone case to your car seats. There are specific products for suede and nubuck and you can use most on faux and vegan leather as well ($44 for a full leather care kit on Amazon).
Pain relief from the rainforest
I’m not a fan of frogs. I am however a fan of Treefrog, a cruelty-free, vegan, water-based topical pain relief gel developed in the rainforests of Costa Rica. It’s plant based and doesn’t leave skin smelly or sticky. ($39.99, treefrogrelief.com).
Belly Oil
Whether you have a food baby or an actual baby, chances are good that you have a residual stretch mark or two. Tubby Todd Belly Oil is made with Pomegranate Extract and Sunflower Seed Oil and safe for sensitive skin ($22, tubbytodd.com). I’m also bummed since I meant to feature their crazy cute Mr. Rogers bath gift set but it’s no longer available.
I may earn a small commission from sales made using the links in this post. (Probably not, since I’m kinda lazy about chasing down affiliate programs).
Enjoy the silence
Curvd makes loads of earplugs for making sound less unbearable. Whether you’re at the supermarket or trying to tune out your teens, they have a new collection of super cute Curvd Cliq earplugs with swappable covers. I’ll be honest though, I love these stylish earplugs but did not notice a significant difference in sound, but it did get me into a quiet zone state of mind ($40, curveearplugs.com).
Or not
If you’re looking to tune into something this weekend, check out the soundtrack from a movie from a few years ago, The Harder They Fall. The movie is hyperstylized and features an almost all Black cast of real and imagined characters and outlaws. The soundtrack is nuanced and incredible. Here’s Seal singing Ain’t No Better Love.
NFC-embedded press-on nails
And finally, let’s file this under things we don’t need that make for fun conversation starters. A company called Chipped Social makes NFC-embedded press-on nails. Eache set of safe to wear encrypted reusable nails includes two thumbs with NFC chips, so you can share your deets while simultaneously giving someone a thumbs up! (Not really. You have to tap your nail to their phone. $64, chippedsocial.com).
Contest winner announcement delayed
I was hoping to announce the winner of the gorgeous Darbie Angell 12-Piece Blush Rising Up Dinnerware Set, but haven’t heard back from her yet. Stay tuned and I hope to make the announcement next week.
Will you be taking time to pamper yourself over the weekend or will you be out in pursuit of the perfect brunch? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
P.S. Happy birthday to OG subscriber, the fabulous Julia G.
