Let's Get Cozy
The weekend roundup includes keratin-infused hair care, bare nails (hashtag optional), chocolate liqueur, a mouthwatering cookbook and food-themed Tarot cards (no, really)
Hello, Gorgeous!
I strive for calm (truly I do). But the days are shorter and it seems like my Fridays last a nanosecond before the weekend is upon us.
If you’re looking for some weekend inspo or even cute gift ideas, consider one of these:
Pure Brazilian Leave-In Conditioner
Is your hair starting to look dry around the edges? For years I tried washing my hair less frequently during colder months to avoid dry ends. Then I realized that what I actually needed to do was wash my hair and then add another layer of conditioning. After all, I moisturize my face, why not my hair as well? Pure Brazilian has a line of haircare products that feel salon fancy - without the expense of a full treatment. Pure Brazilian Leave-In Conditioner is almost like a hair mask, rather than a typical spray-in treatment. It also supports your professional keratin treatment and adds extra softeness and bounce even to fine or curly hair. ($28, Amazon).
Bare nails
I don’t like TikTok for so many reasons, most of all the dangerous disinformation. But, hey. Who can argue with beauty trends? #barenails has accumulated a whopping (perhaps inflated?) 3 billion views on TikTok. Leading that pack is iconic nail brand Essie (founded by Essie Weingarten, no relation). My gel mani ravaged nails are finding solace in these two products in particular.
Essie good as new nail perfector. If you need to take a mani break but still like the look of nail polish, check this one out. It evens out nail bed color and ragged spots. The light pinky/peachy tint hides discoloration. It’s also infused with ceramides to actually soften dried up nail beds. And whoo! It’s vegan. Apply two coats and wear for up to a week. I noticed peeling after about two days, so applied another coat for two more days. ($11, Amazon.com) I use with Essie on a roll apricot nail & cuticle oil. This one is a no-brainer for me since it fits into my purse easily, so I can moisturize my nails and cuticles on the go. It’s got a 97% natural formula with apricot kernel and jojoba oil and doesn’t get all over everything even immediately after applying. ($10.00, Amazon.com).
Cacio e Pepe Tarot deck
I was going to save this one for a gift guide, but I’m too obsessed not to immediately thare it. Cacio e Pepe is a 78 card Tarot deck that features a unique food, dish, or culinary concept instead of the sometimes creepier Tarot symbols. There’s also a guidebook so you know what each card represents. Flip to the back of the small handbook for an instant reference guide, so you’ll know that PB&J is The Fool. And in case you’re wondering, yes. There is in fact a Bagel and Lox card. ($60, cacioepepetarot.com)
Half Baked Harvest Quick and Cozy cookbook by Tieghan Gerard
If you splurge on one cookbook this Autumn, this is a strong contender (you can pre-order and it’s out in a few days). The pics are mouthwatering and there are over 120 recipes to choose from, and Tieghan Gerard always comes through with incredible recipes. I’m trying out the Tomato Cheddar Basil Beans (page 144) over the weekend. (check prices since it seems to be on sale right now on Amazon).
Sausalito Unsinkable Chocolate Liqueur
I’m not much of a drinker, but I love the idea of a really great tipple. While Sausolito Liquor Co. is best known for their gin, this one is an update of the classic lady drink. This version is smooth and sexy and made with Tcho chocolate. I’m going to use it to make some decadent desserts. About $33. You can find out more on their website.
So, what have you got planned for the weekend? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
