Patchology's Invisible Skincare Boost
Two years in the making, Patchology Skincare Booster Firm + Smooth is like a top coat for your face
Hello Gorgeous!
Yesterday Patchology launched an innovative new skincare product that was two years in development.
What is Patchology’s Skincare Booster?
Cult favorite brand Patchology is best known for their deep result face masks and skin patches.
The Skincare Booster ($40, or $18 for purse size) is a first-of-its-kind, invisible skin care mask meant to be used as a last step in your nightly skincare routine. For daily skincare, apply all your products then the skincare booster followed by SPF.
A mask that doesn’t feel like a mask.
The product was inspired in part by liquid skin bandages and went through 22 different formulations before going to market yesterday.
“The idea behind this skincare boost is to enhance the delivery of your other skincare ingredients,” Mathilde La Marre, Director of Product Innovation at Patchology, told me over Zoom. “You’ll start to see better, faster results over time and see that you’ll have firmer, plumper, more radiant skin.” And they have proven results.
La Marre said that there were two types of testing. In the clinical testing scientists measured vitamin C, retinol and niacinamide. When the Skincare Booster was used as the final step, there was a 143% increase in the delivery of vitamin C, a 54% increase in the delivery of retinol, and a 39% increase in the delivery of niacinamide to the skin.
While my own product testing wasn’t quite as scientific, I did notice a marked difference after only a few days. My skin felt and looked smoother. I’m excited to see if the long-term results prove even more impressive.
Here’s what else you should know:
The ingredients are amazing and include red algae (anti-damage and smoothing), panthenol (Vitamin B-5 derivative the moisturizes and soothes), mushroom extract (stimulates skin renewal).
The Patchology Skincare Booster works by using a next generation of polymers. As explained by La Marre, the hero ingredient is a skin seal technology that forms a breathable matrix. But don’t worry about breakouts or pilling. It’s fragrance free, paraben free, and suitable for use around the eye area.
Give it a minute. After applying the booster as your final step in your daytime skincare routine, give it a minute or two to work. Sip your latte or brush your teeth. Allow the product to set before applying your makeup.
Bottom line. I’ve realized that the Patchology Skincare Booster acts as something of a top coat for your face. Your nails might look really nice after polish application but really pop after you add a top coat.
Do you think you’ll add another step to your skincare routine, or will you skip this one? LMK in the comments.
