Return of the Italian MAC

Kiko Milano is making some changes...

Recently, we dished on the restructuring over at the Estée Lauder brands. Less than two weeks later the impact of that announcement is making waves throughout the beauty industry.

As reported by Puck news, MAC Cosmetics’ outgoing global creative director Drew Elliott didn’t opt for quiet quitting. Instead, he informed the powers that be over at the The Estée Lauder Companies that he was moving on. Most notable is the fact that he’ll be taking up professional residence at Kiko Milano (referred to as the “Italian MAC” in the article) which is run by a private equity firm which previously brought on legendary Lauder exec John Demsey.⁠

Well, now. I do believe the plot just thickened and it’s time to take another look at Kiko.

Kiko Milano 101

In case you’re unfamiliar with the Kiko brand, they’re big on trends and proud of their Italian perspective with all products designed in Milan and produced in Europe. The brand currently boasts over 1,200 products and are Italy’s leading beauty brand. they seem to have a strong following in the U.K. as well.

In case you have a hankering for all things Kiko, Ulta has a Kiko storefront with some online exclusives including a full coverage 2-in-1 foundation.

If you have a need for some immediate gratification, you can head over to the Amazon Kiko Milano storefront for some 3d Hydra Lipgloss which has nearly 14k rave reviews. I ran them through review checker, they seem to be mostly honest and not bot raves, though the pricing seems to be marked up significantly on Amazon. I’ll probably be ordering some products on Ulta and will keep you posted on what I think.

I think we can all be sure this is a brand we’ll be hearing a lot about in the coming months. I’m also not going to post the name of the brand I think they’ll be competing with, since I still have an NDA in place for some consulting/trend forecasting I did a while back.
