Hello, Gorgeous!
I’ve been thinking long and hard about how to address the devastating fires in California, and I made a decision not to. Not here, anyway. This is a place where we can focus on the escapism of sharing fun finds with friends for a few minutes a day. While I might critically delve into beauty culture from time to time, I won’t be discussing world events or tragedies. Or at least that’s still the plan.
A bit of housekeeping:
And the winners are…
Huge congratulations to Darcy L. for winning the grand prize in my first-ever giveaway, and felicitations to Sacha C. for winning the second prize. Yay, on both counts! As mentioned, both gifts include a generous selection of Olay products from my OLAY + Hello Gorgeous! partnership.
A short weekend roundup
Oh, my darlings, it’s been a week. Moving right along, this time around let’s talk about hiding things in plain sight AKA decluttering for lazy brilliant people.
A cabinet for under the microwave
Short on space? Me, too! I’m madly in love with this countertop drawer with a pull out shelf from Yamazaki Home. To be honest, I’m not exactly sure how I previously existed in a Yamazaki-less world. This is such a brilliant space maker. Simply place it under your microwave and voila! Instant extra storage. I keep my scissors and sharper knives, along with recipe scraps, foil, random bags and more in the drawer. I love the pull out shelf that is like an extra bit of counter prep space. One thing though, make sure your cabinet is fully anchored in place or it might tilt forward. ( $160, Yamazakihome.com and available in black or white).
A multiuse balm
If you’re looking to declutter your makeup drawer, consider a product that does double (and triple) duty. Dr. PAWPAW makes incredible balms made with 100% natural ingredients. This multipurpose version can be used on lips, split ends, cuticles or even to smooth out brows. It’s a fun line in general and worth exploring. ($8.49, Amazon.com).
A tabletop storage case
Remember how much I (just) said that I love Yamazaki products? Here’s another one. You can use this in any room in the house. I keep mine on the table for random bits of mail or crafts and other things that are important to keep around, but not important to see all the time. It comes in two sizes, so prices vary at Yamazakihome.com.
The tallest shoe rack I’ve seen
This 10-tier shoe rack fits into tight corners and even has hooks for hats or gloves. I don’t like the fiddly assembly needed, but it’s a great way to store lots of shoes and boots in an out of the way spot. ($22.99, Amazon.com).
A set of wooden storage drawers you can use two ways.
Pretty much everything from Muji is well designed and deeply thought out. This oak set of drawers has small shelves that you can use vertically or horizontally depending on your needs. You can also stack the units and create a neat space for jewelry or hair accessories. ($39.90, Muji.us).
And with that dear friends, I wave goodbye to the brutal week that was and ease into my weekend.
So how’s your decluttering situation going; Any tips for the rest of us? Meet me in the comment section to discuss.
